Steba makes the advisory meeting a pleasure

In the beginning there were three words: communication, coffee and dining. With these terms, the senior year of the University for Wood Technology in Hamburg embarked on the development of furniture for the working world that can be used in a versatile and comfortable way and whose materials and design are long-lasting.

Support from Häfele during implementation

The aspiring wood engineers weren’t short of great ideas. In order to turn these ideas into reality, they looked for experienced partners who were experts for multifunctional furniture. They found one in Häfele. The hardware specialists were prepared to support this exciting project from the onset, since they were also interested in inventing furniture in which design and functionality could be combined.

The professionals give the students valuable tips

The students already had concrete ideas about the design and functionality of their furniture when they made contact with the Häfele team in Hamburg. Friedrich Fieg, manager of Häfele’s sales office in Hamburg, devoted a considerable amount of time to his young colleagues in order to discuss and develop the plans with them. The challenge for Friedrich Fieg and his colleagues was to find the technical solutions with which the design could also actually be implemented.

Steba invites you to discussions in shops, team offices and at trade fairs

The result is Steba – a counter which provides charming islands for dialogue with customers and colleagues in shops, team offices or at trade fairs, for example. At one side, the filigree table top crosses over with an elegant sweep into the table leg, which absorbs the movement. The other side of the standing bar with the light and floating effect is anchored in a stable cube.

A gentle press opens the cabinet and a lifting mechanism moves the inner column upwards. A small bar with room for a coffee machine and integrated sockets appears. The cups and the cutlery are within easy reach beneath the table top. This tableware compartment opens and closes automatically as soon as the cube is moved up or down.

Friedrich Fieg likes to reminisce about the project – preferably with a cup of coffee at the Steba. The students presented him with an example of this masterpiece, of which 25 were manufactured in a small batch, for the Häfele sales office in Kaltenkirchen.
