Borgobrufa SPA Resort - Perugia

In the centre of the green Umbrian countryside, between Perugia, Assisi and Spoleto, is the Borgobrufa SPA Resort, the largest wellness centre in the region: 3,000 square metres of spa, relaxation areas, swimming pools and panoramic sensory course, immersed in the nature of one of the most interesting areas in Italy in terms of history and art.

This complex is in the form of a multifunctional structure, i.e. a structure consisting of a number of widely separated buildings managed by a central institution that provides the main and ancillary services and has a high skills base.

In the case of Borgobrufa, it is a true wellness paradise where each individual building, made of stone, has been carefully rethought by architects Silvia Giannini and Fausto Ciotti with respect for nature and the surrounding landscape through a series of intelligent design configurations.

This includes: a 300-metre tunnel surrounded by large windows that connects the residence to the wellness centre, so that guests can reach the spa without going outside and without having to give up the panorama. The choice of materials, design and colours harmoniously evokes the surrounding nature; the low height and the "green" covering of the roof of the building that houses the rooms then provide an additional opportunity for immersion and merging with the environment.

The project and the challenge for Häfele

After two and a half years of planning and half a year of work, Borgobrufa was opened in its version 2.0. A project that earned the resort an additional star: Namely, the resort was upgraded from the 4-star category to the 5-star category.

The redesign required not only a renovation but also an expansion to the point of a complete redesign of the existing complex: the new features include an additional 1 600 m2 wellness centre, a completely renovated reception area, a new wine bar area, new relaxation areas with a panoramic sauna and a new car park.

In addition, it was crucial to equip the suites and rooms of the residential complex with solutions and accessories that combine aesthetics and functionality and meet the high demands of the furnishings.

A challenge that Häfele was able to master with its range of hotel products.

The first requirement was for the doors: Borgobrufa equipped all rooms with Dialock door terminals,
Häfele's electronic identification and locking system based on contactless transponder technology.
Thanks to its ease of adaptation and implementation, the system was well suited to Borgobrufa's renovation needs, as it could be linked to existing systems.

The second requirement concerned the interior design of the individual rooms: how can you further embellish a 130 m2 suite that is already equipped with a sauna, a private pool and a fireplace? With a multifunctional mirror, that combines sound, light and anti-fog function in one elegant solution!

The multifunctional mirror from Häfele has a make-up lighting, a mood lighting, a demister to prevent the mirror from steaming in particularly humid conditions and a sound system that can be controlled via smartphone or tablet using Bluetooth.

The bathroom environment of the standard rooms, on the other hand, has been upgraded with side magnifying mirrors with LED lighting and high-quality accessories such as safes and luggage shelves to match the desired style.
